2.7 Managing file metadata


Properties, also known as metadata (that is, data describing other data; for instance: words in a workbook are data, and the word count is an example of metadata), are information that identify or describe the file. They contain information such as the title, the author’s name, the object.
By clicking the File tab then clicking the Info option, you can access all metadata-related information.
On the right side of the window, the Properties panel lists the name of each property followed by its contents.
To view more properties, click the Show All Properties link, conversely click Show Fewer Properties to reduce the number of properties.
If you want to add or change the title of the document, simply fill it in the properties section:
By default, the author of a workbook is the username of the person who created the workbook and is usually just one name. However, a workbook can sometimes be created by multiple people, which makes it necessary for the names of other authors to be added to the workbook.
If you want to add authors to the workbook, simply click File, then Info. In the Related People section, on the right side of the screen, click Add an author to fill in a new author.
It is also possible to change the name of the main author listed above, in the Properties section:
