3.1.1 Mapping with HOT's Tasking Manager
The Tasking Manager is an open-source collaborative mapping tool created by the Humanitarian OpenStreetMap Team (HOT). This project manager allows the dividing up of one mapping project into smaller tasks, in order to divide the work between several contributors, the purpose is to be able to contribute at the same time without generating conflicts in the database.
The Tasking Manager lists the different mapping projects of several NGOs, including Missing Maps projects and CartONG’s projects. Every project includes a description and mapping instructions to follow (choice of imagery, mapping features, specifics attributes to use).
Finally, the Tasking Manager allows to monitor the overall progress of the project. It shows which areas should be mapped and which areas need to be validated.
