3.2.1 The components of GIS


A Geographic Information System is a computer system for processing, representing and analyzing all objects and events that exist or occur on the earth (geographic information). This system is made up of several equally important components: data, hardware, software, methods and users. The following diagram gives us an overview of all its components.
