Several data sources are available and easily accessible to extract geographic data for free. These sources depend on the thematic that you wish to cover in your mapping project.
The data sets shared on the internet are probably the first source of geographic data. These data types are provided by a number of organizations and services. These include sharing platforms (HDX) or collaborative projects (OpenStreetMap) that make available vector data, imagery and other types of data.
Field data collection is very useful to obtain specific geographic information on a given topic or area. The numerous existing tools allow to simplify the work of data collection in the field (GPS, Smartphone, etc.).
